Week 3

Activities

According to last week's plan, we focus on strengthening the chassis of the car.

Since the chassis was not strong enough to withstand the weight of the car and the deformation caused by the movement of the smart car, we decided to reinforce the original chassis. We added a perforated steel plate beneath the original cardboard. After testing, we successfully achieved the goal of increasing strength without adding excessive weight.

Issues

During testing, we found that the rated voltage of the original motor was too high and the voltage of the car's power supply could not meet the rated operating conditions. This was particularly evident during turns, as it was difficult to achieve turning by increasing the speed of one motor. Therefore, we replaced the motor with a lighter motor with a lower rated voltage and added more batteries. After testing, the new motor met our requirements well and improved the speed and agility of the car.

Next week's goal

  • Test and refine functions to avoid conflicts between them
  • Add new features such as hand tracking.
